چکیده
The present study was conducted to compare the imaging quality of non-ionic (iohexol) and ionic (sodium meglumine diatrizoate) contrast agents for intravenous urography in dogs. Twelve clinically healthy adult dogs were randomly divided into two groups I II, consisting six either sex each. Two relevant radiographic exposures i.e. ventro-dorsal right lateral views obtained survey following evaluate effectiveness using both @ 1100 mg I/kg body weight respectively under general anaesthesia. examination agent assessed immediately after their administration then at 5, 15, 30 minutes interval by taking ventro-dorsal/lateral radiograph abdomen. urograms evaluated on basis nephrogram, pyelogram cystogram phases. Nephrogram phase showed good visualization (2+) animals group as compared II which slightly visualized (1+). nephrogram persisted a period 15 whereas; it clearly visible upto 5 minute duration II. time groups. Cystogram between It concluded that low osmolar iohexol dose rate produced better image high sodium diatrizoate same rate.

Ionic or non-ionic contrast media in stent placement.
In his letter to the editor, Dr Schräder poses the rhetorical question of whether the results of our study are ‘true’. To substantiate his doubts, he points out that different non-ionic contrast media (CM) were used in our study and calls for a subgroup analysis. In addition, he refers to the data obtained during the COURT trial. I am very happy to be given this opportunity to discuss the inter...
متن کاملComparison of the effect of non-ionic and ionic contrast agents on pancreatic histology in a canine model.
CONTEXT Pancreatitis is the most frequent complication of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. Controversy exists whether low osmolarity non-ionic contrast agents lessen the rate of pancreatitis and pancreatic injury. To evaluate we used a canine model to compare pancreatography performed with ionic and non-ionic contrast. DESIGN Dogs were anesthetized and underwent open transduode...
متن کاملDelayed Contrast Enhanced MRI of Cartilage: Comparison of Ionic and Non-ionic Contrast Agents
Hypothesis: Delayed Gd(DTPA) enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) is a method designed to image the distribution of fixed charge density in cartilage, based on the premise that mobile ions will distribute in cartilage in relation to the concentration of the charged glycosoaminoglycan (GAG) molecules. The hypothesis to be tested here is whether the variation of T1 values post-Gd is a true reflect...
متن کاملLow osmolar (non-ionic) contrast media versus high osmolar (ionic) contrast media in intravenous urography and enhanced computerized tomography: a cost-effectiveness analysis.
The cost-effectiveness of three alternative policies for the use of intravenous contrast media for urography and enhanced computerized tomography (CT) are analyzed. Alternative #1 is to use high osmolar contrast media (HOCM) in all patients, the historical policy. Alternative #2 is to replace it with low osmolar contrast media (LOCM) in all patients. Alternative #3 is to use LOCM only in the hi...
متن کاملInfluence of ionic and non-ionic radiographic contrast media on leukocyte adhesion molecules.
BACKGROUND Many papers have focused on the importance of granulocytes in the process of reperfusion and ischemia. Most of the clinical studies measured several parameters of this process during and after coronary angiography, without taking into account the effect of the radiographic contrast media (RCM) used during this procedure. MATERIALS AND METHODS We performed a randomized patient study...
